Restoran Madera

Palilula · Bulevar kralja Aleksandra 43,, Palilula · 0113231332

Long ago, famous city bohemians chose our restaurant as the place where they began and ended their day. Even today, Restaurant Madera, with its old charm but in a modern, redesigned setting, awaits you at 43 Bulevar kralja Aleksandra. Our offer includes specialties of national and international cuisine made from specially selected fresh ingredients. Spend pleasant moments with a quality selection of wines (domestic, Italian, French, Spanish, Chilean) and live music in the evening. We offer 170 seats in an air-conditioned hall and 270 seats in a summer garden overlooking Tašmajdan Park. Restaurant Madera is located in a city zone with a long history. The part of today’s Bulevar kralja Aleksandra from Takovska to Beogradska Street was known as Fišegdžijska čaršija because, by order of Prince Miloš Obrenović, that area was designated for the sale of gunpowder and cartridges. At the location where Restaurant Madera stands today, the kafana Smederevo first opened, where coachmen and porters gathered. Later, in the spirit of modernity, a multi-story building was erected, and in 1937 its ground floor was adorned by kafana-restaurant Madera. The story says the restaurant got its name when one of the guests brought excellent wine from the Portuguese island of Madeira. City bohemians, famous artists, and journalists gathered in this restaurant, popularly called "maderaši." Among them were Dr. Aca Obradović, Predrag Milojević, Ljuba Tadić, Miroslav Radojčić, Dan Tana, Miljan Miljanić, Slava Đukić, Ljubiša Vukadinović, Dragoslav Šekularac, and others. Madera received its present modern appearance in May 2003.
